Golden Gate Bridge and Point Reyes

I successfully convinced Ana and Will that it would be loads of fun to drive for three hours out to Point Reyes, where we may or may not be able to go see the lighthouse. All the guidebooks seem to recommend it, plus the Point Reyes National Seashore (or whatever it's called) is such a huge space on the map that I figured the Haymores had to conquer it one way or the other.

So we cruised on through San Francisco, went over the Golden Gate Bridge, and stopped to take some pictures at the other side.

After that, we headed off of the 1 into Point Reyes. Once we got the park's visitor center, they told us the lighthouse was, alas, closed due to high winds. (By way of explanation, the lighthouse is actually set a few hundred feet down the face of the cliff, accessible only by a staircase.) We decided to continue on anyway, as there's supposed to be good vistas and possibly whale sightings from the point. On the map, it's only twenty miles or something, but it takes forever to reach the point. But the point was gorgeous.

We had to take turns looking around because the winds were so high Will had to stay in the car. But we drove a little farther along and got a good hike in. You can see from the pics that the wind was still pretty high. But Will still managed to find a flower for Mommy, that he also wanted to give to Daddy. Evidently purple is my color.
